From touring comic, to anchorman on HBO’s Not Necessarily the News, and game show host, to guest-starring roles on sitcoms like Wings, and NewsRadio, Tom Parks has had a tidy little career. In 1985, while touring, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. To raise money for the American Diabetes Association, he created the “Comedy Crusade Against Diabetes’. Tom also created an award-winning video about diabetes, served on the ADA’s National Board of Directors, and as spokesperson for the ADA and the JDF. In total, his efforts helped raise more than 7 million dollars for diabetes research.
